Buttons
Buttons are more than just fasteners - they set accents, stabilize sewing and often determine the look of a garment. Our category shows the range from plain plastic buttons to decorative metal or decorative buttons in small and medium sizes (e.g. approx. 10-20 mm). Whether plain, shiny or matt: the right choice makes all the difference.
What are buttons suitable for?
- Clothing: Shirts, blouses, dresses, coats and children's clothing benefit from the right size and stability.
- Accessories: Bags, belts and hairbands gain expression with decorative buttons.
- Home textiles: Cushions, blankets and upholstery can be elegantly closed with robust buttons.
How to process and what to consider?
Careful sewing extends the service life: Choose sewing thread, needle size and bar (for bar buttons) to match the fabric thickness. For 4-hole buttons, cross or parallel stitches provide a good hold; for thin fabrics, a small reinforcement (approx. a button carpet pad or fabric) is recommended. Mark the position and distance with tailor's chalk, test buttonholes on fabric remnants and sewing with stable stitches. With thicker layers of fabric, a button with a spacer bar can close better.
What makes good buttons special?
Quality is reflected in dimensional stability, a smooth surface and clean perforation or processing of the bar. Pay attention to color harmony with the fabric and functional aspects such as break resistance and wash resistance. Decorative buttons set accents - robust, easy-care variants are often more practical for everyday items.
