Tips for processing

Before you start, test the overlock thread on a scrap piece of fabric: adjust the thread tension, stitch length and differential feed if necessary until the seam appearance and stretchy properties are right. For metallic threads, sew slowly and, if necessary, use a suitable needle to prevent the thread from roughening. Construction yarns behave differently when threading and cutting—slightly slower sewing and an adjustment of the knife or fabric feed helps to achieve the desired volume.

How to choose the right thread

Pay attention to thickness, material and the desired result: Stretchy polyester threads are suitable for stretchy jersey or sweat fabrics, metallic or multicolor variants create special effects for visible decorative threads, and for robust seams, choose a thicker thread. Color matching is important – if you are unsure, samples or yarn samples can help.
