Eyelets and press stud reinforcements
Eyelet and snap fastener reinforcements are pre-formed interlinings that stabilize the fabric around eyelets and snap fasteners and prevent cutting or tearing. Suitable as iron-on reinforcement or for sewing in, they make it easier to attach metal eyelets and snap fasteners and create a clean, long-lasting result.
What are the reinforcements suitable for?
Eyelet reinforcements and press stud reinforcements are particularly suitable for light to medium-weight fabrics where closing parts exert pressure or friction. Typical areas of application are bags, belt loops, children's clothing, blouses, curtains and accessories. They provide the necessary stability, especially on thin fabrics and woven fabrics, without being bulky or leaving unsightly edges.
How do you use them correctly?
Processing is quick and often possible without cutting: Before ironing on or sewing in, carefully mark the position and test it on a sample piece. When ironing, always use a thin cotton cloth as an intermediate layer and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Allow to cool briefly after application so that the interlining retains its shape. For areas subject to heavy wear, it is advisable to additionally fix the reinforcement with a few hand or machine stitches.
- Mark position and test on sample fabric
- With iron-on: place thin cloth between iron and reinforcement
- Allow to cool, then sew on at points if necessary
- Reinforce for heavy-duty use or combine with stable interlining
What makes these reinforcements special?
Prefabricated eyelets and press stud reinforcements save time because no cutting is necessary and deliver consistently clean results. They are available in different shapes and colors so that they can be unobtrusively adapted. For hobby sewers, they are a practical solution to make projects more professional and durable.
