Elastic yarn
Elastic thread (also known as elastic thread) is a fine, very stretchy thread that is ideal for smocking, gathering, elastic inserts and fine decorative work. Due to its elasticity, it pulls fabrics together evenly without creating thick sewing. This is why it is particularly popular with hobby sewers who work with jersey, light sweatshirts or garments with soft pleats.
What is elastic yarn suitable for?

Processing tips
Elastic yarn can be processed both with sewing machines and by hand. A tried and tested trick for smocking is to place the elastic thread in the bobbin or bobbin thread bobbin and sew on top with normal sewing thread. Always test on a sample piece before final sewing: check thread tension, stitch length and needle. Finer needles and a moderate stitch length often give the best results. If possible, sewing slowly and rewinding regularly to prevent the thread from twisting.
