Gluing & Fusing is the category for anyone who wants to work neatly when sewing without countless pins or visible basting stitches. Here you will find gluing solutions and fusing aids that are suitable for light fabrics, appliqués, sample seams and temporary positioning. Whether temporary spray adhesive to try out, permanent textile adhesive for permanent connections or water-soluble adhesive tape for ironing - the selection will help you to simplify work steps.

What are the accessories suitable for?

Fabric glue and spray adhesive are ideal for temporarily fixing layers of fabric, holding edges together for sewing or attaching appliqués before sewing. Water-soluble adhesive tape is practical for holding hems or positioning zippers and disappears when washed. Safety pins are useful for basting, binding quilt layers or threading elastic.

How to use?

  • Always test on a scrap of fabric before use to avoid discoloration or bleed-through.
  • For spray adhesives, spray on evenly from a sufficient distance and allow to dry briefly before positioning parts.
  • Apply textile adhesive sparingly and observe the drying or fixing time; some adhesives require heat to activate or are only wash-resistant after thorough drying.
  • Water-soluble adhesive tape is removed when ironing or later when washing - ideal for temporary help with fine fabrics.
  • Use safety pins where pins get in the way or if you want to hold several layers together securely.

What to look out for when buying?

Pay attention to the labeling on wash resistance, whether the adhesive is temporary or permanent and whether it is suitable for your fabric (sensitive, coated or stretchy fabrics react differently). Quantity and container size are crucial: 30-50 ml is sufficient for small craft projects, while spray cans are often more practical for larger sewing projects. Store glue in a cool, dry place and follow the safety and application instructions.

At your Stoffschwester you will find a targeted selection of fusing aids to make sewing easier. Take your time to look around and choose the right helpers for your next project.
