Linen
Linen

Linen is one of the most popular natural fibers for warm months: it is light, very breathable and absorbs moisture well. The characteristic structure gives garments and accessories a casual, natural look, while different qualities and blended fabrics - for example with viscose - provide more drape and a softer feel.
What is linen suitable for?
Linen is ideal for airy summer clothing such as blouses, shirts, dresses and light pants. It is equally suitable for home textiles: cushion covers, curtains or table linen benefit from the natural look. Linen blends combine the advantages of linen with better drape and less tendency to crease.
Processing tips
- Before processing: pre-wash the fabric and allow it to shrink if necessary to avoid surprises later on.
- Processing: Use fine to medium needles (e.g. 70-90) and a suitable thread tension.
- Edges: Linen can fray overlocker, zigzag stitch or French sewing are recommended.
- Lining and interlining: choose light, breathable interlining, pad if necessary to stabilize the shape.
- Ironing: work at medium heat with steam or a damp cloth; stonewashed qualities are often less lazy to iron.
What makes linen special?
Linen is durable, often becomes softer with use and gains character. The natural texture forgives small irregularities and creates an organic look. Different finishes - such as stonewash or embroidery - give rise to very different styles, from clear and modern to romantic and playful.
