Folded elastic is a stretch binding tape that is ideal for neatly finishing the edges of stretchy fabrics. As a flexible, folded tape, it is placed over the cut edge and secured with stretchy stitches to create soft finishes on necklines, armholes, leg hems or baby and underwear.
What is folded elastic suitable for?
Seamed elastic is mainly used for knitted and jersey fabrics because it provides the necessary elasticity and is comfortable against the skin. Typical areas of application are:

- Leg ends on underwear and baby pants
- Fine finishes on nightwear and loungewear
Processing tips
Seamed elastic can be processed well with a normal sewing machine, but the right settings and tools are important. Use a jersey or stretch needle, stretchy stitches such as zigzag or a special stretch stitch and, if necessary, a twin needle for a clean visible seam. Work with fabric clips instead of needles to avoid damaging the material, and be careful not to stretch the elastic too much when sewing it in place - this will maintain its elasticity.
