They are suitable for edging necklines, hems on sleeves or decorative edging on blankets and accessories. Thanks to their elasticity, sewn edges retain the necessary freedom of movement.
Processing tips
- Preparation: Position bias tape evenly and secure with pins or basting stitch if necessary.
- Sewing machine: Use a jersey needle or a universal needle in combination with a stretch or zigzag stitch; for particularly neat seams, a twin needle or a stretch stitch is helpful.
- Stretch if necessary: Stretch the bias tape slightly when sewing it on so that it fits snugly around rounded edges, but do not overstretch it.
- Overlocker & Co.: Overlockers deliver a very flexible result; household machines achieve similarly good results with zigzag stitch or imitation overlock.
- Pressing: Press briefly and at low heat so as not to impair the elasticity.
