Swafing fabrics are popular with amateur sewers because they cover a wide range of qualities and designs. What are the fabrics suitable for?

Processing tips for hobby sewers
Before cutting, it is worth taking a quick look at the fabric run and, if necessary, washing it so that the fit does not change later. For stretchy fabrics, I recommend a jersey or stretch needle and stretch stitches or a triple straight stitch or overlocker seams. When sewing with french terry, a slight tension in the feed helps to prevent the fabric from curling. Decorative fabrics and chenille often require a thicker needle (e.g. Universal 90) and generous seam allowances as they are thicker. Hem edges or finish with a zigzag or overlock seam; a facing or bias tape can be used to finish visible edges neatly.
