Bamboo sweat
Bamboo sweat combines the suppleness of viscose with the pleasant wearing properties of bamboo fiber. This sweat fabric is particularly soft, drapes beautifully and feels pleasant against the skin. As bamboo sweat, bamboo sweat or bamboo viscose sweat, it is often used for light to medium-weight clothing where comfort and elegance are paramount.
What is bamboo sweat suitable for?
- Hoodies, sweatshirts and cardigans with a soft drape and comfortable fit
- Casual dresses, skirts and jumpsuits with a flowing drape
- Children's and baby clothing because of its pleasant feel
- Homewear and leisurewear that should be breathable and easy care
Typical properties
Bamboo sweat is characterized by its smooth surface and fine, supple drape. It is breathable and absorbs moisture well, making the material particularly pleasant to the touch. Depending on the weave and composition, bamboo sweat can be slightly stretchy or have an elastane content for additional stretch.
Processing tips for hobby sewers
When sewing bamboo sweat, we recommend using a jersey or ballpoint needle as well as stretch stitches or a triple stretch stitch for stretchy seams. Sewing with an overlocker creates clean edges; alternatively, stretch zigzag seams can be used. A rotary cutter or sharp fabric scissors will help when cutting, as the fabric is soft and can slip easily. If necessary, stabilize the edges with stretch binding tape.
Care instructions
Bamboo sweat is generally easy care: machine wash gently at 30-40 °C, do not tumble dry too hot and dry flat to avoid deformation. Ironing at a low temperature is possible, preferably with a cloth in between. It is advisable to pre-wash the fabric once before sewing, as viscose can shrink easily.
