Processing tips for hobby sewers

• Always pre-wash before cutting to reduce fraying and possible shrinkage effects.
• Pay attention to the running direction of stripes and allow enough extra time for pattern matching when cutting several pieces.
• Align checks at side and dividing seams in particular; allow for a little more fabric for this.
• Points are often more forgiving when cutting, but the pattern placement should still be taken into account for front pieces.
• Fine woven fabrics can be sewn well with a universal needle and a narrow seam allowance; thicker needles are recommended for more robust cotton fabrics.

Special features & care

Woven fabrics with clear patterns are easy to iron and keep their shape. For collars, cuffs or pocket inserts, we recommend using a suitable volume fleece or interlining to stabilize the shape. Care instructions depend on the fiber blend; cotton fabrics can usually be washed at 30-40 °C and are tolerant of ironing. Try a pattern remnant to see how the fabric and interlining work together.
